Xbox and The Initiative Officially Reveal Perfect Dark

For years, people have wondered what Microsoft's new first-party studio The Initiative has been up to. At The Game Awards, we finally found out. The Perfect Dark reboot is real.

The Initiative has long been seen hiring some top-tier talent from other studios such as Insomniac Games, Sony Santa Monica, and Rockstar Games and Phil Spencer and company have been teasing what's in store for the new studio's debut for years now. Revealed with a CG trailer, Perfect Dark is now out in the open.

On Xbox Wire after the show, head of studio Darrell Gallagher introduced the title a bit more than the trailer did.

"With Perfect Dark, we’re aiming to deliver a secret agent thriller set in a near-future world.

We have built the Perfect Dark team at The Initiative by bringing in some of the most talented game makers from around the industry who all share a passion for storytelling, world-building and creating memorable game experiences. With the full backing from Xbox Studios to re-imagine one of the best loved IPs from gaming history, we couldn’t be more excited to share some of our early ideas.

The game will likely return to the shadows for a while, quite fittingly I suppose. The team has still been staffing up, after all, so we shouldn't expect to see the game anytime soon. Though they didn't explicitly say so, we can safely assume the game will hit Game Pass at launch like all Xbox Game Studios projects.

Elsewhere for Xbox at The Game Awards, Tell Me Why won the Games for Impact award, while Microsoft Flight Simulator showed off footage of next year's console release after winning the award for Best Sim/Strategy game, even beating out fellow Xbox Game Studios project, Gears Tactics.

After several leaks, Master Chief was finally revealed for Fortnite and is now available in the game for purchase with V-Bucks. Starting today, players can even take part in a limited-time mode for Fortnite that will be quite nostalgic for many players: Capture The Flag on Blood Gulch. The classic map and mode will soon be playable in Epic's ever-growing game from today.

Lastly, to coincide with the launch of Cyberpunk 2077,  your starter vehicle in the game, the Quadra Turbo-R V-TECH, is now available in Forza Horizon 4.
