A reputable insider has alleged that Sony is planning to broadcast a PlayStation State of Play livestream next month. This would mark the fifth State of Play for 2025, and judging by prior patterns, it'd likely give PlayStation an idea of what the gaming giant has lined up for the coming year.
So far in 2025, Sony has held two general State of Play livestreams that announced numerous games and provided updates on existing titles for PS4, PS5, and PC. Additionally, there was a dedicated State of Play broadcast for Borderlands 4 at the tail-end of April, and one for Ghost of Yotei in mid-July. With just over four months left until 2025 draws to a close, many PlayStation fans expect Sony to hold another livestream to announce the PS5 games lineup for 2026 - and perhaps beyond.
It seems that's the plan, as in the latest Game Mess Mornings podcast episode, credible industry insider Jeff Grubb felt "comfortable" sharing that Sony plans to hold a State of Play or PlayStation Showcase livestream around the end of September. Grubb accurately predicted several State of Play presentations in the past, so his information does carry weight....
