it's been much too long for Left 4 Dead fans waiting for a third game that will likely never come. After plenty of similar games, it's not likely to get any closer than a new game from the team that made the original series. Back 4 Blood is here.
Back 4 Blood was first announced almost two years ago, but until now we had never seen gameplay of it. In fact, we hadn't even seen a trailer of any sort. But from The Keighleys, we got two. First up is a new CG trailer which introduces the mood and setting of Back 4 Blood (hint: it's a lot like Left 4 Dead).
Following closely behind that much-anticipated debut, a developer took to the social-distanced stage to show off more of the game with two and a half minutes of intense gameplay, featuring the sort of evolutionary hordes you'd expect from Turtle Rock, the team behind the original Left 4 Dead series at Valve.
Back 4 Blood is due out next June, but first there will be a showcase for the game next week on December 17 at 10 am Pacific. Directly following that, the game's closed alpha kicks off and will run through December 21. Call it a Christmas miracle for L4D fans.
The developers promised with this game they wanted to go bigger, meaning more playable characters, more zombies, more everything it seems. We'll know a lot more a week from now. Back 4 Blood is scheduled for launch on June 22, 2021 for Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PlayStation®5, PlayStation®4 and PC.
