Starlink, the satellite internet service from Elon Musk, is currently experiencing a major service outage. Starlink internet is generally reliable and makes it possible for people living in rural or remote areas to have high-speed internet. While there are some inherent drawbacks to satellite internet versus fiber, Starlink customers seem to be mostly satisfied with the service.
But while Starlink is mostly reliable, there are times when it goes down, just like any other internet service. Late last month, Starlink internet went down for a short period of time before services were restored. Starlink is down yet again, making it impossible for customers to use the internet.
Starlink internet went down again on August 18. It's unclear just how widespread the problem is, but thousands of customers have gone to Down Detector to report issues with the service. The official Starlink Twitter account has yet to acknowledge the outage, so it's possible that the outage isn't impacting every customer, but that remains to be seen.
We will update this article as soon as Starlink services have been restored.
