Pokemon GO is making a change to how many players can participate in a Gigantamax Battle. The increase could be beneficial to players, but fans are already pointing out some potential complications this change could make to the Pokemon GO Gigantamax Battle meta.

Eternatus has arrived in Pokemon GO, with players who attended the Pokemon World Championships in Anaheim getting the first opportunity to get Eternatus Eternamax. The new change to Gigantamax Battles begins with Pokemon GO Fest 2025: Max Finale, and applies to fights with Eternatus, as well as standard Gigantamax fights.

Pokemon GO has now revealed that a change to the number of participants in Gigantamax Battles is going into effect alongside the community's battle with Eternamax Eternatus. Beginning in the Max Finale, groups of up to 100 Pokemon trainers will be able to enter the same battle against Gigantamax Pokemon or Eternamax Eternatus. Trainers will be split into groups of four or fewer. The alteration will impact players worldwide, and will remain in effect once the fight against Eternatus is complete.
