Overwatch's latest event, Winter Wonderland, has gone live.
Blizzard has announced that Overwatch's winter event, Winter Wonderland, has begun. The event will last until January 5th. During the event, players will have access to three exclusive modes that have been featured in past Winter Wonderland events. This includes the classic Mei's Snowball Offensive mode, which is a 6v6 brawl where everyone plays as Mei. Her blaster has been modified to shoot a super-powered snowball that can take an enemy out in one hit. There is also the Snowball Deathmatch mode, which is a 8-player free-for-all similar to Mei's Snowball Offensive, as well as Yeti Hunter, which has five Mei's take on a Yeti who uses Winston's abilities.
Winter Wonderland will also feature a new mode for gamers to play. Entitled Freezethaw Elimination, this mode is a 4v4 brawl. Instead of dying, players are frozen in blocks of ice that can be thawed by teammates. Freezing everyone on the opposite team scores a win. New achievements and sprays can be earned by playing this new mode.
During Winter Wonderland, players can earn costumes for Junkrat, Ana, and Roadhog. Players earn these rewards by winning games in Quick Play, Competitive Play, or the Arcade. Until December 22nd, three wins earns a player an Elf Junkrat Icon, six wins rewards an Elf Junkrat Spray, and nine wins earns an Elf Junkrat Epic Skin. Between December 22nd and December 29th, three wins nets players a Gingerbread Ana Icon, six wins grants a Gingerbread Ana Spray, and nine wins earns players the Gingerbread Ana Epic Skin. Finally, between December 29th and January 5th, players will earn a Frosty Roadhog Icon for getting three wins, a Frost Roadhog Spray for securing six wins, and a Frosty Roadhog Epic Skin for netting nine wins.
During the event, players will be able to earn a number of new skins. This includes a Penguin Mei. Players can also unlock skins from previous Winter Wonderland events. There will also be a number of Emotes, Intros, Icons, Sprays, and more to unlock during the event.
Overwatch is available now for PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and the Nintendo Switch.
