The original Sonic the Hedgehog games have been re-released in bundles and collections so many times that they remain playable on even the newest platforms and consoles. However, even Sonic fans old enough to have played them on their original hardware wouldn't have experienced them like this - on a tiny Sonic-themed arcade machine.
My Arcade teased its Sonic the Hedgehog Joystick Player earlier this year, showing it off to attendees at CES 2025 all the way back in January. It's been more or less radio silence on the project since then until now, although even now, the mini arcade machine might not be quite ready for you to buy despite pre-orders going live.
Frack's Sonic Deals shared the good news this week that the mini arcade cabinet, which features playable versions of Sonic the Hedgehog and Sonic the Hedgehog 2, was available to pre-order on Amazon. Even better, the Joystick Player was priced at $59.99, which seems pretty reasonable for something like this. However, the cabinet's pre-order page appears to have been swiftly taken down.
All of this almost certainly means pre-orders will go live and stay that way very soon, so keep checking...
