Activision finally pulled back the curtain on Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 during Gamescom Opening Night Live, but the game's latest trailer appears to be doing nothing more than pushing fans into pre-ordering Battlefield 6. As 2025 will be the first time in four years that the two series are going head-to-head, many are eager to see if Call of Duty will continue to dominate with the launch of Black Ops 7, or if EA's new Battlefield game truly is the return to form that it's aiming for.

The true test will come later this year, when both Battlefield 6 and Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 are officially released. However, the former appears to be off to a flying start, as the Battlefield 6 open beta has already been smashing records. According to EA, the beta was the biggest playtest in Battlefield history, which isn't much of a surprise considering the shooter peaked at over 521,000 concurrent players on Steam during its opening weekend, surpassing Call of Duty's all-time peak on the platform, which occurred nearly three years ago.
