Friday the 13th and Killer Klowns from Outer Space dev Illfonic is teaming up with The Texas Chain Saw Massacre studio Gun Interactive for a brand-new Halloween game... and yes, it's another asymmetrical multiplayer title.

While we've had plenty of great entries into the genre in recent years, it's impossible to carve out a legacy under the enormous shadow of Dead by Daylight, doubly so with controversial post-launch support as in the case of TCM. So, it's hardly surprising that Halloween is already mired in doubt, with players readying for its inevitable demise.

"Game is going to get discontinued after a year or two," u/DifficultBreath9469 posted to r/TheHalloweenGame. "I just want a good horror game that gets regular content. I am burnt out of DbD right now. TCM was awesome but then the updates would only bring more issues".

Thankfully, Hellraiser is bucking the asymmetrical horror trend.

"Feels like the player base for these games come over from DbD and [...] then just head back after the honeymoon phase is over," u/jrob_92 said. "Hopefully it will have the replayability to keep people hooked long enough to pound out some updates".
