If you thought your family had an ax to grind over their holiday dinner, you haven't seen anything yet. It's Yule Season in Assassin's Creed Valhalla, and that means it's time to reap some year-end holiday rewards like you made Santa's Nice List.
The single-player game is going full live-service, offering months of content ahead in this first of many seasons to come. First up is the Yule Festival, which is offering new rewards and challenges for all players for free. The Yule Festival is active until January 7 in Ravensthorpe, Eivor's and her Raven Clan's settlement which players build out over many dozens of gameplay hours. New mini-games such as archery, a fist fighting tournament, and a new drinking game will all be playable, as will two new quests. Rewards up for grabs include a new armor set, exclusive settlement decor, and more, said Ubisoft in its announcement.
If you're just beginning your journey in Assassin's Creed Valhalla, you'll first need to progress a bit in the game before you can access some of this content. This means you'll need to make your trek out of Norway, England-bound, and complete one of the first narrative arcs, either Grantebridgescire or Ledecestrescire. By then, Ravensthorpe begins to take shape and the settlement will come alive for the winter holiday.
In an unexpected move, the real-life Ravensthorpe village is celebrating the launch of the game's first season.
The real-life Ravensthorpe (population 498*) is also celebrating the in-game Season 1 launch, with the Lord of the Manor, Charlie Reeve, declaring a week-long Valhalliday. From now until December 24, the local Chequers Pub & Village Shop, the village hub, will offer an Assassin's Creed Valhalla-themed takeaway menu to patrons. Finally, a donation of $5,000 from Ubisoft will go towards supporting Ravensthorpe’s playground project, as well as other community projects.
In February, an update to Yule Season will add River Raids and rankings for Jomsvikings, player-created mercenaries that can be hired between iterations of the game from player to player.
Valhalla's first season, Yule Season, is available now and free for all players.
