Elden Ring May Be Struggling On The Switch 2, But Final Fantasy 7 Remake Looks Great

I might have felt bad about kicking Elden Ring's self-evident Nintendo Switch 2 port problems while they're already down, but they're really quite terrible. 'Elden Ring: Tarnished Edition' is one of those titles you need to make dang sure don't invite plenty of parody, and it doesn't look like Bandai Namco will have nailed the assignment when it launches later this year unless things change significantly between now and then.

On the flip side, there's Final Fantasy 7 Remake. Square Enix is bringing the first part in Cloud Strife's trilogy-length reimagining of an all-time PlayStation classic to Nintendo's nascent console at some equally nebulous near-future point, in its expanded Intergrade form which added that spiffy Yuffie DLC. Contrary to Elden Ring, FF7 Remake's Switch 2 port is shaping up to be something special. Well, I guess they're both pretty... special, to contrasting extremes, but you know what I meant.

To be clear, I haven't had the chance to personally check out FF7 Remake on Switch 2. But Square's had a booth running with the game at Gamescom 2025, and several outlets have reported fairly glowing findings. Nintendo Life, for instance, posted plentiful footage. The public-demo...
