A new update has been released for Pokémon Sword and Shield

Nintendo has announced that a new update for Pokémon Sword and Shield has been released. Not much is known about the update. According to Nintendo, the update fixes some of the game's issues "for a better gameplay experience." Exactly what those issues are were not mentioned. This is the latest update to drop for Sword and Shield since the last expansion, The Crown Tundra, was released this past October. According to Nintendo, players have to connect their Switch to the internet, return to the HOME menu, launch the game, and then the update will be downloaded and installed automatically.

There is a Max Raid event going on in Pokémon Sword and Shield at the moment. Through this event, players will find more Fire- and Ice-type Pokémon in Max Raid Dens. The event will last through December 31st. During this time, the Ice-type Pokémon Lapras, Weavile, and Avalugg, as well as the Fire-type Pokémon Rapidash, Turtonator, and Centiskorch will appear in Pokémon Dens more often. Players will also run into the Gigantamax versions of Lapras and Centiskorch more often. Gigantamax versions of Pokémon are tough to find, so this will be a good chance to add these forms to your collection. It should be noted that this event will not affect the Pokémon that players encounter in Dynamax Adventures.

In other Pokémon news, Pokémon GO is currently holding a holiday event. The event will last until December 31st. During this time, Pikachu, Delibird, and Cubchoo will all appear in the wild wearing holiday-themed outfits. Ice-type Pokémon will appear in the wild more often, while Seel, Swinub, Smoochum, Snorunt, Snover, and Vanillite will hatch from 5 km Eggs. Ice-type Pokémon will appear more often in raids. Mega Abomasnow will appear in Mega Raids, and will be more powerful during this time. Players will be able to take on event exclusive Special Research tasks that will reward them with encounters with Pokémon such as Cryogonal and Vanillite. There will be winter-themed avatar items to purchase in the game's shop, as well as event-exclusive boxes. There will also be holiday-themed stickers that can obtained from PokeStops, Gifts, and the shop.

Pokémon Sword and Shield is available now for the Nintendo Switch.
