As exciting as the wait for Resident Evil Requiem, AKA Resident Evil 9, is, it's hard not to wonder what the next remake Capcom has in store for the larger Resident Evil franchise. Because after experiencing remakes of RE2, RE3 and RE4, the next logical step would be a full-blown remake of the extremely divisive Resident Evil 5.

Except, that isn't the case. At least not for the time being. And it'll only be possible under certain conditions.

Replying to a question on Twitter, noted Resident Evil insider Dusk Golem shared that there "is no Resident Evil 5 Remake in development right now."

The insider specifically notes that they believe if fan demand continues, it could happen, provided everything aligns. But, for the time being, it's not an active project.

Rather, they continue to stand by previous claims that the remakes that are in development are Code Veronica and Resident Evil 0. With respect to Code Veronica, the remake project is "going super well," largely as a result of having many of the same developers from RE4 Remake.
