Following a revival on consoles and PC via its "Rehydrated" remake version, Spongebob Squarepants: Battle for Bikini Bottom is coming to Android and iOS stores later this month.
Players on those platforms can now pre-register and pre-order on the Apple and Google Play Stores respectively. The mobile port is being handled by HandyGames, one of the many companies owned by THQ Nordic.
Spongebob Squarepants: Battle for Bikini Bottom - Rehydrated is the 2020 remake of the 2003 cult classic 3D platformer which launched at the height of the absorbent hero's powers. The remake earned "Fair" reviews when it launched last summer on July 23, with critics citing the lovely remade and recolored levels but wondered if time had passed the game by given its somewhat predictable platforming mechanics.
Battle for Bikini Bottom Rehydrated lets players take control of SponeBob, Patrick, and Sandy across different levels, utilizing their own special abilities. Players will take on bosses, fight jellyfish, and collect "Shiny Things," which certainly tells one the game understands precisely what it wants to be. On mobile, players can se the all-new touch controls or play with a supported controller.
