After five years in development, modders have completed a project that brings the gameplay of Portal to Minecraft. The project lets Minecraft: Java Edition players enjoy the puzzle mechanics and gameplay of Portal, or make levels of their own. Best of all, it's playable with vanilla Minecraft, so players don't have to install secondary mods to check it out.

Portal and Minecraft entered the scene around the same time, launching in 2007 and 2009, respectively. Both games were wildly popular upon release, with Minecraft receiving numerous updates, and Portal being popular enough that Valve produced a sequel, with Portal 2 even including co-op mode. Since then, though, Portal as a franchise has largely faded into the background without any new major releases in years, while Minecraft is still going strong. Those who miss Portal may want to check out this new experience within Minecraft to satisfy that craving.
