Quickly sparking mixed reactions among audiences, Roblox has announced that it will be enforcing a new content maturity rating and subsequently disabling unrated experiences beginning September 30. Roblox has been marred by controversy in recent months, with parents and even government bodies questioning the safety of young players, and the game creation platform appears to be moving full steam ahead with new measures aimed at keeping potentially harmful content away from vulnerable users.

Since its launch back in 2006, Roblox has become one of the most popular platforms for both players and creatives. In August 2025, Roblox set a new record for the all-time highest concurrent player count, surpassing 47.4 million users, with many joining the platform to enjoy hit games like Dress to Impress, Grow a Garden, and more. While Roblox has allowed aspiring game developers to gain experience with various creation tools and thus introduced players to diverse new offerings, Roblox's unrated content settings left many concerned with the potential for inappropriate content to proliferate on the platform.
