Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds' open beta isn't supposed to go live for another two days, but fans have already managed to hack into it and push it well beyond the all-time playercount of Team Sonic Racing.

When Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds was first announced, it's fair to say that it had a bit of a muted reception. Long-time Sonic fans were excited, because of course they were, but everyone else was too focused on whatever Nintendo was going to do with Mario Kart next. That tide has certainly changed in the past few months, though.

Whether it's because of how controversial some of the changes made to Mario Kart World were, or how glowing the hands-on previews and network tests have been, Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds has quickly emerged as a much bigger deal than previous Sonic racers. It's such a big deal, in fact, that its currently inaccessible open beta is already beating the series' last game.
