It's not a done deal, but many Final Fantasy 14 players are dreading the very real possibility that the game's next expansion won't launch until 2027 - three years after Dawntrail, which has proven itself to be nothing if not consistently divisive among the community.
If this proves to be the case, and unless a great deal more content is packed into the remainder of Dawntrail's lifespan than what we've seen from the latter portions of previous expansions, then we might be looking at a relative content drought at a time when FF14 could really use a shot in the arm.
The '27 deduction has had a number of roots over the past few months, but the most recent one is also the biggest - Final Fantasy 14 Fan Fest, which will have its customary North American, European, and Japanese venues over the course of 2026, won't wrap up its third and final outing until November 1.
Square Enix announced the dates (by the way, good luck getting a ticket) early this morning, and as you can see, there's a Spring/Summer/Fall vibe to it all:
Interestingly, the North American venue has shifted from Las Vegas, Nevada to Anaheim, California....
