It’s fair to say that the Nintendo Switch 2 will be a focal point of gaming news for pretty much the rest of the year. We still don’t know when the next Nintendo Direct is, we’re slowly getting game release dates, and, of course, people want to know how well the console is selling all over the world. For that last one, we do have an update via the July NPD data. Mat Piscatella dropped the latest info about the Switch 2’s sales numbers, and the prognosis is very good. In fact, it’s on pace to be doing really well before the holiday season even hits:
That’s a big deal for multiple reasons. First, it shows that the Nintendo Switch 2 continues to sell well, and that it’s tracking far ahead of what the OG Switch did in the same timeframe. That’s not to say it’ll “inevitably surpass its predecessor,” but it’s a good trend to be on. One small note to note, though, is that the sales figures for this analysis ended on August 2nd. So, naturally, the console has sold many more units since that point.
