After 20 Years, Ubisoft's Resident Evil Rival Is Officially Returning

The Resident Evil series inspired no shortage of competitors, and Ubisoft's own attempt at the RE style of survival horror will officially be getting a new life soon. Japanese horror games largely dominated the sixth-generation console era, but a few Western releases stood out as notable. One of the best options was Ubisoft's Cold Fear, which released in the shadow of the juggernaut that was Resident Evil 4.

Atari has acquired the rights to five Ubisoft titlesCold Fear, I Am Alive, Child of Eden, Grow Home, and Grow Up — as shared by BusinessWire. Atari CEO said the company is "excited to reintroduce these titles while also exploring ways to expand and evolve these franchises." This will apparently include re-releases of the games along with potential new platforms, content, and updated formats.

All five Ubisoft games acquired by Atari are already available in some form on modern platforms. Cold Fear, I Am Alive, Grow Home, and Grow Up can all be purchased on Steam, for example, while Child of Eden is listed on the Xbox store.
