The co-op horror subgenre has all but exploded onto the scene these past couple of years thanks to the likes of Lethal Company,R.E.P.O. and Phasmophobia. However, many of them are just as concerned with laughs as with scares, leaving a sizable gap for purely horror-focused titles like the newly released Eyes of Hellfire to try and fill.
This is actually just the Steam Early Access release, meaning that those who decide to jump into Eyes of Hellfire now will be helping developer Gambrinous to flesh it out and test out new content as it’s integrated into the game. That said, there’s already plenty to enjoy here, both alone and with friends.
Eyes of Hellfire casts players as members of a certain group of very unfortunate people who’ve all, one way or another, found themselves afflicted with a fatal curse. This affliction has brought them all to the headquarters of the enigmatic Hellfire Club, located deep in the woods of the mountains outside Dublin, Ireland. Rumor has it that the means to lift their various curses can be found here, but it won’t be a simple matter.
