"Our Bad": Overwatch Says It's Unbanned A Player For Saying "Noob"

Online shooters are not known for fostering the best communities. Honestly, sometimes it's actually more productive to turn off chat and just focus on playing the game, lest you get sucked into a fight over who's fault it is that you're losing. But even so, one of the tamer things you can be called during these heated exchanges is "noob". In fact, I don't think I've seen that used for at least a decade.

Despite this, one Overwatch 2 player says they were banned for using the word. Reddit user Content_Tadpole2299 shared an email from Blizzard that said they were being permenatly banned from Overwatch 2 for saying "noob", "?", and "worth", which is a pretty drastic step. Even Blizzard agrees that this was a bit much now, and has reversed the ban.

The message from Blizzard is short and sweet, telling us that we can "say noob now". Personally, I have not tested this myself, so I suppose we'll have to wait and see if this is the case. I suppose if you do end up getting banned anyway, you can reference this post when you try to appeal the ban.
