Sega held an open network test for Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds at the weekend, during which anyone could download and play what was effectively a preview build of the game ahead of its full launch later this month. Feedback appears to be mostly positive, although one criticism that quite a few of you seem to share is the amount of powerful items in the game makes it downright terrifying whenever you're in the lead.
Although CrossWorlds and Mario Kart World are very different games, it's impossible not to draw comparisons between the two, especially when Sonic's kart racer is launching less than four months after Mario's. That has resulted in players likening CrossWorlds' items to Mario Kart's, and it turns out quite a few of them are Sonic's equivalent of the dreaded blue shell.
Weights are one of the CrossWorlds' items that most resemble what a blue shell does in Mario Kart. Using the item squashes not only the race leader, but also the player in second.
