The great news for turn-based RPGs in 2025 continues, as a sequel to the remake of the legendary Trails in the Sky 1st Chapter has been confirmed. The remake isn't even out yet, and developer Nihon Falcom has now committed to bringing the next Sky game to modern audiences, and with Trails Into Daybreak 2 coming to the West earlier this year, too, it's a massive year for the company and the franchise.
In an interview with Automaton, Nihon Falcom’s president, Toshihiro Kondo, stated, "people would go, ‘You’ve got to be kidding me'" if the developer did not remake the second game in the trilogy. Kondo continued, saying: "So, we do want to do a remake along the lines of Trails in the Sky 2nd Chapter."
Trails in the Sky 1st Chapter is releasing on September 19, but the demo is available now. The demo saw a particularly positive reception from fans and has primed the Trails series to reach a larger audience than the niche series had previously. Kondo also stated that the company wants to avoid a large gap between releases.
