A new ARC Raiders trailer hones in on the game's post-apocalyptic atmosphere, and it results in some very eerie ASMR-like audio. Embark Studios' upcoming extraction shooter takes place after a legion of robots, known as ARC, have taken over Earth's surface, forcing humans to live in underground colonies. Raiders are then sent to the surface to scavenge for supplies, fighting the machines and other survivors alike.
Roughly two months ahead of its October 30 launch, ARC Raiders' new Soundscapes trailer features practically no traditional gameplay footage, instead treating viewers to the ambient sounds of a raid. The combination of howling wind, distant gunfire, and robotic beeping is quite unsettling, and shows that the developers have put immense effort into cultivating a specific vibe for the region known as the Rustbelt.
The trailer description says these sounds were recorded in-game, so the clips are essentially camera pans while ARC Raiders is being playtested, often far away from the action. The noted locations mostly come from the three maps playable in ARC Raiders' second tech test: Dam Battlegrounds, Acerra Spaceport, and the Buried City.
