GTA 6 Gets Unexpected Competition From One Of 2025's Biggest Games

Grand Theft Auto 6 isn't being released until 2026, but gamers are getting a small preview in Mario Kart World of all games. Rockstar's next open-world crime game is one of the most highly-anticipated titles of the past decade, and fans have marked their calendars for its eventual launch date of May 26, 2026.

Twitter user HIGO_Mario_Fan and other social media users are uncovering a glitch where NPCs populating Mario Kart World's open world leave their cars - only for other characters to suddenly climb inside and drive away. This is shown when a Toad leaves his car parked, then a Shy Guy steals it as the player can do little but watch.

Such casual acts of criminal mischief are virtually unheard of in the wholesome world of the Mushroom Kingdom, but are par for the course in Grand Theft Auto. Sure enough, some commentators have compared these Mario Kart World car heists to Grand Theft Auto 6, with a few even joking about the infamously long wait for GTA 6.
