The latest Overwatch event has begun.
On the Overwatch website, it was announced that the game's Lunar New Year event has begun. The event starts today, and will last through February 25th. During this time, a number of modes will be available. This includes the new Bounty Hunter mode. In Bounty Hunter, players rack up points as they claim bounties. The player who gets the first kill of the match will become a Target, while all other players become Bounty Hunters. Gamers gain extra points by killing the Target, but will become the Target themselves.
Two other modes will be available during the Lunar New Years event. Players will be able to play Capture the Flag, where they must secure the enemy flag and return it to their base while preventing the opposite team from doing the same. There will also be Capture the Flag Blitz. In this variant on Capture the Flag, both teams' flags are closer together, and six captures are required instead of the original three. There will also Competitive Capture the Flag, which will include placement matches, leaderboards, and Competitive Points.
During Overwatch's Lunar New Years event, there will be weekly challenges. From February 4th to 11th, players can earn items for Baptiste. Three wins will score a Stonefaced Baptiste Player Icon, six wins will net a Terracotta Spray, and nine wins will reward the Terracotta Medic Baptiste Epic Skin. From February 11th through 18th, gamers can earn items for McCree. Three wins will reward players with the Wanderer McCree Player Icon, six wins will grant the Gunsmoke Spray, and nine wins will earn players the Xiake McCree Epic Skin. During the event's final week, taking place February 18th through 25th, players will be able to earn Reaper items. Three wins will grant the Imperial Guard Reaper Player Icon, six wins will reward players with the Siwang Spray, and nine wins will reward gamers with the Imperial Guard Reaper Epic Skin.
During Overwatch's Lunar New Years event, players will be able to get Lunar Loot Boxes filled with items to celebrate the event. If players purchase 50 boxes, they will get an additional 10 for free. The items found in these boxes will only be available until February 25th.
Overwatch is available now for PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and the Nintendo Switch.
