Prince of Persia Remake Gets Delayed Again

Written by on | OpenCritic

Prince of Persia The Sands of Time Remake was once scheduled for January of this year. Then it got pushed to March. Now, before March has arrived, it's been delayed again, with no new date announced this time.

In a statement on Twitter, the team behind the game said they understand "the update may come as a surprise" but that they will continue to keep fans posted on the game's progress.

Since announcing Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake in September, we saw an outpouring of feedback from you on this beloved franchise. It is your passion and support that is driving our development teams to make the best game possible. With that said, we have made the decision to shift the release for Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake to a later date. This extra development time will enable our teams to deliver a remake that feels fresh while remaining faithful to the original.

We understand the update might come as a surprise and we will continue to keep you posted on progress of Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake. In the meantime, we want to thank you all for your ongoing support.

The remake was first revealed at last summer's Ubisoft Forward digital presentation after several leaks had all but confirmed its existence. Some fans were less than impressed with the game's graphical overhaul and it may well be that feedback which has, at least in part, pushed the game back twice now.

Ubisoft promises more than just visual upgrades for the game. New features include improved camera angles and a reworked combat system, including a new targeting system which is meant to help players string together their attacks more effectively, and thus more stylishly too.

This remake of a 2003 game will be the first major release in the series since 2010's The Forgotten Sands. We'll keep you updated when we learn more about Ubisoft's new launch date plans for the game.
