James Gunn Teases "Real Emotion & Stakes" In New LEGO Batman Game

LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight recently got a winning endorsement from none other than James Gunn, who promises that the game will have more than you might expect from a LEGO title. The fourth LEGO Batman game was announced during Gamescom 2025, and it will combine elements from the many Batman comics, films, and cartoons into one celebration of the Dark Knight.

In honor of Batman Day, WB Games released an exciting new video for LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight. DC Studios head James Gunn was one of the people featured, and he described how the next LEGO Batman game could defy expectations, stating that the game will have "real emotion and stakes."

As noted before, LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight stands out from past LEGO video games by combining aspects from the different Batman adaptations into a single narrative that will follow Bruce Wayne's entire crime-fighting career. TT Games Development Team Head Jonathan Smith describes how this story will "distill decades of fantastic storytelling" to immerse players in becoming Batman.
