The Borderlands film has found its Claptrap.

We now know who will be playing the sarcastic Claptrap in the upcoming Borderlands film. Variety has reported that Jack Black will be taking on the role of the iconic robot. Claptrap serves as the comic relief of the Borderlands series, as he constantly annoys all of the other characters around him. Black is the latest addition to the film, including the recently cast Jamie Lee Curtis.

"I am so excited to reunite with Jack, this time in the recording booth," director Eli Roth stated. "Claptrap is the funniest character in the game, and Jack is perfect to bring him to the big screen."

"We couldn't have been more in sync with our filmmakers and casting executives as we approached this role," stated Nathan Kahane, Lionsgate Motion Picture Group president. "Everyone who's ever played the game knows Jack is perfect for this part. We're thrilled he will add his endless comic energy and voice to our film - he'll bring so much to the movie."

The news that Jack Black will be playing Claptrap in the upcoming Borderlands film comes soon after it was announced that Jamie Lee Curtis will be playing Dr. Patricia Tannis. They will be joining Kevin Hart, who will play Roland, a soldier and one of the original Vault Hunters from the first Borderlands game. It was revealed last year that Cate Blanchett will be playing Lilith, a Siren and another of the original vault Hunters. While many of the main characters from the first Borderlands game have been casted so far, it is still unknown who will play the last two of the original Vault Hunters, Mordecai and Brick.

The latest Borderlands title, Borderlands 3, is available now for PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
