Dice desperately needed a win after the disappointment of Battlefield 2042, from what we've seen in the open beta tests, Battlefield 6 is already successful. While there are still some doubts over its cosmetics, the sheer numbers and player feedback proved that it's going to be a hit when it launches in October.
The developers have previously mentioned that Battlefield 6 is a sort of return to form for the series, and is heavily inspired by their most popular titles, namely 3 and 4. However, what exactly went wrong with Battlefield 2042, besides the performance issues? The game had a meager player count even after these issues were ironed out.
In a conversation with PCGamesN, producer Jeremy Chubb discussed what went wrong with 2047 and why Battlefield 6 looks like it's going to be a success. "I think 2042, for us, was a very ambitious goal," said Chubb. "Trying to embrace the possibilities of 128-player and even larger-scale maps. For a lot of our audience, it didn't quite have the right feel."
