PlayStation Plus subscribers may not have to wait as long to hear about the October 2025 selection of free games, as Sony could bundle the announcement with a rumored State of Play broadcast later this week. Assuming that the rumored State of Play goes live, the monthly PlayStation Plus game rotation for October may be revealed around a week before the usual window.
As a necessity for online play on the PS4 and the PS5, a PS Plus subscription also allows users to download a selection of free games each month at no additional cost. Once obtained and downloaded, users can then play the offered games as long as their PS Plus subscription is active at the same membership tier that was required to claim it. While most PS Plus titles can be claimed with an Essential tier membership, some freebies, including Bomb Rush Cyberfunk and No More Heroes 3, require a subscription at the Extra or Premium tiers instead. The games offered by PS Plus change monthly, giving users a limited timeframe to claim the ones they want.
