Hamaguchi also noted that the past keywords for Final Fantasy 7 Remake and Rebirth, "reunion" and "bonds," both correlated with each game's main themes and philosophies.
While Final Fantasy 7 Remake and Rebirth originally launched as timed exclusives on PlayStation consoles, Square Enix has since shifted to a multi-platform approach for its major releases. After sharing that Final Fantasy 7 Remake will launch on Nintendo Switch 2 and Xbox Series X/S consoles on January 22, 2026, Hamaguchi added that the rest of the Final Fantasy 7 Remake trilogy would also arrive on those platforms. However, it is currently unclear if FF7 Remake's third chapter will be a timed exclusive on the PlayStation platform or if it will be a multi-platform launch from the start.
