Marvel's Wolverine is so violent and gory that even some developers at Insomniac Games worried that they might be taking it too far, with one brutal scene in the trailer raising some eyebrows.
This week's State of Play might have been a little disappointing overall, but it did at least have a few major announcements. That included the long-awaited return of Marvel's Wolverine, which was first revealed more than four years ago with a brief CG trailer that didn't really show us much of anything.
Insomniac remained pretty quiet about what direction it was going in for Wolverine, but it did promise all the way back in 2021 that the game would be as violent as we hoped. That was certainly proven true in the extremely bloody trailer shown at the State of Play, which was so gory that even some Insomniac devs thought it might be a bit much.
Shortly after the release of the Wolverine trailer, a behind-the-scenes video, which is cutely called "Behind The Claws", featuring Insomniac Games developers talking about what was shown. In that video, Insomniac is keen to point out how important blood and gore are to the "Wolverine experience".
