Epic Games has bought Tonic Games Group.

On the Epic Games blog, it was announced that the company has acquired Tonic Games, the development company behind the hit title Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout. According to Epic, gameplay will not be changing, and the company stated that they will invest in making the game a great experience.

"At Tonic Games Group we often say that 'everyone deserves a game that feel like it was made for them,'" stated Dave Bailey, Tonic Games Group Co-Founder and CEO. "With Epic, we feel like we have found a home that was made for us. They share our mission to build and support games that have a positive impact, empower others and stand the test of time and we couldn't be more excited to be joining forces with their team."

"It's no secret that Epic is invested in building the metaverse and Tonic Games shares this goal," Tim Sweeney, Epic Games Founder and CEO stated. "As Epic works to build this virtual future, we need great creative talent who know how to build powerful games, content and experiences."

Last week Cuphead had found its way into Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout. Two skins were released for the game: Cuphead and Mugman. Both costumes cost the same to unlock: five crowns for the top, and five crowns for the bottom. The Cuphead skins were the latest guest costumes to come to the title. They follow costumes based off of Godzilla and Sonic the Hedgehog.

It was announced last month that Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout will come to Xbox consoles and the Nintendo Switch. The game will release for the platforms sometime this Summer, though no specific date was given. There was no word on whether or not Fall Guys will support cross-platform play when it releases on the new systems.

Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout is available now for PC and PlayStation 4. The game will come to the Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and Nintendo Switch later this year.
