When the original Hades first launched, it was a pretty big deal. Spent a good amount of time as the talk of the internet, earning a peak concurrent playercount of 54,000 people on PC, and for many, it's what put Supergiant on their radar.
Supergiant doesn't make a lot of sequels. Their first game, Bastion, was so well received that the studio's next title (Transistor) is still marketed as "from the creators of Bastion"; but that big hit still stands alone. As does Transistor, and Pyre.
But Hades was different. It was so much bigger than anything that came before. Big enough for Supergiant to make a sequel. And, building off the success of the first game, Hades 2 looked at that 54,000 concurrent players figure and laughed it out of the room.
As of now, the peak concurrent playercount for Hades 2 sits just above 112,000 PC players — more than doubling what the original title was able to accomplish.
SteamDB, which is where these stats are coming from, lists a ton of information about Hades and Hades 2. And while the sequel far outshines the original in terms of raw players, it's not the only stat that matters.
