The recently released Hades 2 has been a huge hit, achieving excellent review scores and doubling its predecessor’s all-time peak player count on Steam. These numbers showcase how successful Supergiant Games’ Hades 2 has been so far.
The original Hades was released by Supergiant Games in 2020 and was quite successful, selling over a million copies and garnering very positive reviews. The sequel was released in early access last year, and then fans finally saw Hades 2 launch the 1.0 version for PC and Switch on September 25, 2025. Like its predecessor, Hades 2 received glowing reviews, obtaining an average critic score of 93 on OpenCritic.
Soon after the launch, Hades 2 reached a new all-time peak player count of 112,947 simultaneous gamers on Steam, according to SteamDB. These numbers represent more than double the original Hades’ numbers, as the title peaked at 54,240 gamers. Maintaining its “Overwhelmingly Positive” reviews on Steam, Hades 2 continues to be a big hit with the fan base, too, and the roguelike may reach even higher numbers over the weekend.
While Hades 2 has been highly successful, not all aspects of the game have been equally well-received by the fan base. Hades...
