What's the secret to better-looking Nintendo Switch 2 ports? Good lighting, says Square Enix's FF7 Remake series director, Naoki Hamaguchi. And he would know - judging by all that we've seen thus far, the upcoming Remake port does look pretty darn good.
Hamaguchi-san also spoke of the comparative challenge of development for Xbox Series S, and it's the same sort of bottleneck that others in the industry have lamented in the past. What's more, he's offered another promising sign that things are going great for the Remake trilogy's grand finale.
The great folks at Easy Allies caught up with the director at Tokyo Game Show 2025, asking him a slew of solid questions about the project and its future. In speaking about not only the fast-approaching Remake port, but Rebirth's own pending port and ultimately the as-yet untitled third game, Hamaguchi confirmed there are simultaneous teams hard at work on Part 3:
"As for the third installment, we do have dedicated teams working on each platform, so that our multiplatform approach won't impact development whatsoever. So, development for both [the Switch 2 port of Rebirth] and Part 3 are going very smoothly."
