'I Did Not Walk Away' Former Assassin's Creed Franchise Boss Clarifies His Departure from Ubisoft

Following the news of his departure from Ubisoft, former Assassin's Creed boss Marc-Alexis Cote attempts to set the record straight on what happened, disputing initial reports he chose to leave. In recent months, Ubisoft has found itself in an interesting position, namely with the formation of Vantage Studios, which is now in charge of many of its core franchises.

Despite Assassin's Creed Shadows being a big success for Ubisoft, the franchise seems to be in a bit of transition now that the long-term leadership of Marc-Alexis Cote has left. The surprising announcement initially made it seem like Marc-Alexis Cote left Ubisoft willingly, leaving members of the Ubisoft leadership team, such as Vantage Studios co-CEOs Charlie Guillemot and Christophe Derennes, "disappointed." However, new insight from Cote himself seems to counter that initial report.
