Sony has officially begun rolling out yet another system software update for the PlayStation 5, bringing the console to version 25.07-12.20.00 with some minor new features and improvements. While the majority of new PlayStation 5 updates are merely for stability improvements, the latest firmware patch appears to include a handy new feature that allows players to check the serial number of the console and controller via the system settings.
PlayStation fans are always eager to see what Sony has in store when it comes to new PlayStation 5 updates, but major new features and changes are often few and far between. The most recent firmware update came just this month, as the company simultaneously updated both the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 on October 1. Sadly, there was nothing significant to report regarding the surprise updates, as the patch notes for both consoles stated that the updates were for security fixes.
