Tekken 7 has reached another milestone since its release.
Last September, it was announced that Tekken 7 had sold over 6 million copies, and that the series had reached over 50 million copies sold. Now, it has been revealed that the game has sold over 7 million copies (via PlayStation LifeStyle). This is a major milestone, as the game has reached the end of its fourth season with the release of its latest character. There is no word on the future of the game, and whether or not there will be a fifth Season.
Tekken 7's latest character, Lidia Sobieska, was released earlier this week. Lidia is the fictional prime minister of Poland, and utilizes karate. She is a new character for the series, and came with a new stage, entitled Island Paradise. According to Lidia's biography, she had taken an interest in karate at a young age, and showed great quality in it. She entered and won her first karate world championship at the age of 18. After the loss of her father, she also took interest in her family's tradition of politics, becoming one of the youngest rising stars in the Polish political arena.
Lidia is the second and final character to be a part of Tekken 7's fourth Season, which started last year. The first character to be released as a part of the Season was the kunoichi Kunimitsu, daughter of the original Kunimitsu from previous Tekken titles. Kunimitsu also released with a new stage, entitled Vermillion Gates. Season 4 also featured an update for the game that made some changes. New moves for every character were introduced, while the user interface and online play both received enhancements and adjustments. There was also a new feature added to the game called Tekken Prowess, which tracks a player's rank and status. There was also an overhaul to the title's rank system, with a new rank called Tekken God Omega being added. The pass for Season 4 will set gamers back $15, though characters can be purchased individually for $6.
Tekken 7 is available now for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
