Tencent has revealed Undawn today, a brand new IP set in a post-apocalyptic open world with threats both human and inhuman. Undawn will launch later this year on iOS, Android, and PC. The game is being developed by Lightspeed & Quantum Studios, which is the team behind the massively popular PUBG Mobile. The game is said to be set "in a dangerous and unforgiving world where players must fight for survival," and eventually thrive in a hellish environment.

The game's world pits players in a PvPvE world, so while the fast-moving undead are certainly a threat on your life, so too are other survivors. Players will scavenge for resources and craft crucial supplies and weapons which they can improve over time. To truly make it in the world of Undawn, players will need to form alliances with other players which allows them to build unique shelters, trade and barter, and stake out a homestead where they can comfortably plant their proverbial flag.

Undawn is built on Unreal Engine 4, so it may well be that a console port is planned down the line, but it is launching first on iOS, Android, and PC later in 2021. Early artwork for the game suggests a variety of clothing options will be available, and perhaps even stand in as the monetization element of the otherwise free to play game.

No firm date has yet been revealed, but with Tencent's backing, the pedigree of the PUBG Mobile team, and a launch durng a year when everything else is being delayed, Undawn might well be a game we're all talking a lot about later in 2021.
