Battlefield 6’s Worst-Kept Secret, Its Battle Royale, Releases Tomorrow

To the surprise of almost no one, the battle royale companion mode to Battlefield 6 has been revealed just one day ahead of its launch. Developer Battlefield Studios and publisher Electronic Arts have been teasing the franchise's second attempt at a battle royale since BF6's big multiplayer reveal, but it's been kept under wraps as an apparent surprise – albeit a very poorly kept one.

Battlefield has now revealed that the BR, called Battlefield: REDSEC, will be released tomorrow, October 28, at 11:00 AM ET (15:00 UTC). The name REDSEC is an amalgamation of "redacted sector," apparently a nod to the game mode's map, which is rumored to be named Lyndon Beach. The free-to-play battle royale has been something of an open secret, with dataminers and leakers even claiming for a couple of weeks now that REDSEC will release alongside Battlefield 6 Season 1, which is also starting on October 28.
