Capcom decided to defend its stance on a Pay-Per-View run for Capcom Cup 12’s Finals yesterday. On September 28th, Capcom announced that both the Street Fighter League World Championships and the Capcom Cup 12 finals will be Pay Per View events charging around $40 on YouTube.
This is what they had to say via the official Capcom Fighters Twitter account:
In that same tweet, Capcom revealed when the sales for tickets will be scheduled. According to them, this is for sustainability of the majors and proof-of-concept, in a sense.
As stated before, the Street Fighter VI producer Takayuki Nakayama did not have any say in this decision. The backlash alone speaks volumes as to what the community thinks of this move. Waiting a week to see the end results or trying to piece it together in shorts might not do the trick, neither.
