New World: Aeternum will stop receiving new content and major updates, and its servers will likely shut down soon due to Amazon's recent decisions. Initially released in 2021, New World: Aeternum was once considered one of Steam's most prominent MMORPGs, though its recent user reviews haven't been very positive.

At the time of writing, New World: Aeternum is receiving a wave of negative comments on Steam, seemingly due to a review-bombing campaign sparked by recent unfortunate news. Still, this Amazon Games title was once among the most-played games on Steam, reaching an incredible concurrent player peak of over 910,000.

In an official blog post, the developer of New World: Aeternum announced that the game will no longer receive major updates. "The recently launched Season 10 and Nighthaven update will serve as the final content release for [the game] on PC and console," the announcement reads. According to the post, the servers won't be shut down immediately, and the team plans to give players at least six months' notice before that happens.
