Mike Pondsmith, creator of the Cyberpunk tabletop RPG that CD Projekt Red's Cyberpunk 2077 is based upon, has urged Keanu Reeves to call him after the Hollywood actor expressed his interest in returning for the currently in development sequel. Reeves portrayed the iconic Johnny Silverhand in the 2020 RPG Cyberpunk 2077, and while the character met his demise in the majority of the game's endings, Reeves has stated that he would love to return as Silverhand in Cyberpunk 2.
Cyberpunk 2077 has a variety of endings that can be achieved by players, depending on the dialogue paths and choices made over the course of the game. Although CD Projekt Red has never confirmed which of the many endings are canon to the series, it is often thought that the one introduced in Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty, the 2023 expansion, is the "true" ending. If this is the case, it means the character of Johnny Silverhand no longer exists, as the relic is successfully removed from V's head, thus killing Johnny for good.
