World of Warcraft may be getting a new type of premium currency in the near future called Hearthsteel. While little is known about this mysterious coin at present, evidence suggests it may be linked to the Housing feature in World of Warcraft.
While Midnight is introducing tons of exciting features to World of Warcraft, few are as highly-anticipated as the Player Housing system. What’s more, this headlining feature is technically arriving before the expansion, as fans who pre-purchase World of Warcraft: Midnight can access Housing on December 2 with the release of Patch 11.2.7.
However, it appears there could be an aspect of this system that Blizzard has not mentioned yet. One of the recent builds of the World of Warcraft: Midnight alpha contained over a half dozen assets featuring “Hearthsteel,” a new type of gold and silver coin and sporting the glowing symbol for the Housing system. Wowhead shared these datamined images, which showed Hearthsteel coins alone, in piles of various sizes, and in bags, pots, and chests.
