This would hardly be the first time that a Sims 4 player has suffered a major loss at the hands of technical difficulties, as the long-running life simulation project has crossed paths with countless bugs and performance issues over the course of its decade-plus on the market.
Save corruption, and the potential loss of critical data that comes with it, can potentially spell tragedy for Sims players. It's been an especially visible problem in the Sims 4 community these past few years, as the 2023 For Rent expansion ostensibly introduced a notable amount of save-related glitches, resulting in many players losing their data. As of October 2025, EA is still investigating these persistent save data errors, but as the aforementioned TikTok user demonstrates, there's still plenty of damage being done in the meantime—whether related to the For Rent DLC or not.
