Alien invasion stories tend to focus almost exclusively on how humanity is affected. Humankind is the most dominant species on planet Earth, after all, so it's only natural to focus on how outside forces would change or challenge that dominion. It's also inherently interesting for us as players, which perhaps explains why the likes of XCOM 2 and Half-Life enjoy so much popularity. Ours, as it turns out, aren't the only stories to tell in this kind of scenario, though.
Konami and ZDT Studio's new adventure platformer, Darwin's Paradox explores one of these alternative stories. Players will follow the aliens' world domination designs not as a human, but rather as a simple octopus named Darwin. Having gotten yoinked out of his home and brought to a hellish factory far away, Darwin's goal appears to be quite simple: get back to his quiet corner of the sea. New gameplay showing his journey and some of his abilities was released today, giving fans a better feel for what their octopus will get up to once the game launches next year.
It's one octopus against a domineering multinational juggernaut.
