Sonic Rumble has launched to "Mostly Negative" reviews on Steam, with a lot of the hate pointed towards the "predatory" monetisation.
Sonic Racing CrossWorlds might be the Blue Blur's big game of 2025, but it isn't the only one thanks to Sonic Rumble. The strange Fall Guys-inspired spin-off was originally announced last year and even briefly playable through a closed beta, before disappearing into the ether for a good chunk of time.
Sega's relative silence regarding Sonic Rumble (as well as some delays) led many fans to start worrying about the game and what was taking a relatively small game so long to launch. Well, after a surprisingly long wait, Sonic Rumble finally released earlier today, but the early responses are anything but positive.
Sonic Rumble only just released earlier today, but it's clearly making the wrong kind of impact with Sonic fans. As of the time of writing, Rumble is sitting with a "Mostly Negative" review score on Steam, with 67 percent of the reviews so far being negative. There admittedly aren't too many ratings right now with just 249 reviews, but it's still pretty damning.
So why is everyone annoyed at what looks like an inoffensive...
